Put together a national women-led movement to drive practical action on climate change, a new art gallery and eight leading artists and what do you get?

The answer is the inaugural ‘1 Million Women Art Collection’, which is being officially launched on Sunday (December 16th 2012).

The collection of 40 original artworks celebrates the natural beauty of Australia and has been curated by Gallery V, located virtually online and physically in the inner-Sydney suburb of Woolloomooloo, where Sunday’s launch is being held starting at 11.45am and running for half an hour until 12.15pm (address is Gallery V, 41 Riley Street, Woolloomooloo).

1 Million Women and Galley V are inviting everyone to pop in on Sunday for the launch, or to see the collection at any time between 11am and 4pm, and the full collection can also be viewed online at

All paintings in the collection are available for purchase at 10% discount for 1 Million Women members and supporters, whether at the gallery or online.

In addition, the art collection is helping 1 Million Women to raise funds to support its work around Australia empowering women and girls to save energy and money, and cut waste and pollution in their daily lives.

Each of the eight emerging and award-winning artists – with styles ranging from traditional landscape painting to indigenous art to more contemporary works – has donated one painting to 1 Million Women for a special art raffle fundraiser that is being run over the holiday season, closing on Australia Day, January 26th, 2013. Tickets can be purchased online at

1 Million Women CEO and Co-Founder Natalie Isaacs will join some of the inspiring Australian artists who have so kindly donated their works.

‘We think that combining art and the beauty of Australia is a great way to reflect on what we are trying to save by acting in our own lives to address climate change for both the environment’s sake, and the well being of future generations’, said Ms. Isaacs. ‘It’s amazing that eight wonderful artists have been so willing to support us and to share their talents.’

1 Million Women

The 1 Million Women campaign is a national movement of daughters, mothers, sisters and grandmothers getting on with climate action. Led by women for women, we are a registered charity. Launched in 2009, we have over 77,000 joined and nearly 36,000 on our Facebook. Our long-term aim is lasting behaviour change. Our goal is to inspire 1 Million Women to take practical action on climate change by cutting 1 tonne of pollution out of daily lives in a year. It's easy. We will show you how.
