Red Button Technologies has completed market research into its Assure Connect product, the first application to be developed and hosted on its Connectivity Server technology. The research has identified a potential $130 million market for the service.

The Connectivity Server provides a platform for rapid development, prototyping and production hosting for cross platform multi-mode telecommunications based products and services.

Assure Connect is an emergency response service that enables a mobile phone to perform as a personal emergency alerting device.

“The specific details of the service and its unique features are being kept confidential at this time but we expect to launch the product in April 2010” said Justin Wearne, Chief Executive Officer.

Research conducted by Harrison Research (experts in health and social market research) identified a need for personal alerting technology and tested the Assure Connect solution proposed by Red Button.

“Our belief in the market potential of the product has been boosted by the outcomes of the market research which have shown considerable acceptance of the new technology and high appeal ratings in a number of significant market segments” said Justin Wearne.

“People would prefer to utilise a mobile phone to call for assistance than carry an additional device. What our solution does is make the phone far more effective in an emergency situation.”

Red Button commissioned Harrison Research to conduct market research into the Assured Connect product. Harrison conducted focus groups in Adelaide and in the Gold Coast and a national quantitative study involving 800 respondents. The comprehensive survey project took place over several months during 2009 and was funded through the federal government COMET grant scheme.

The research also confirmed the price points for the service and determined that the Assure Connect market is worth $130 million in Australia alone.

“This is an encouraging finding for the venture. Up until this point we had been working on our own estimates. To have independent research verify market size, product acceptance, and pricing has provided us with the confidence to move forward” said Justin Wearne.
