HKTDC Education & Careers Expo 2010, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will be held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre through 4 – 7 February, 2010. This year is the 20th Anniversary of the Expo, drawing together over 500 exhibitors including educational organizations, government departments, professional bodies and private enterprises. Visitors of the Expo include students, job seekers and more.

The Expo features two main sections: Education and Careers. Education, which is split into “Hong Kong” and “outside Hong Kong” sub-sections, provides a platform for communication between educational institutions and potential students. Exhibitors include colleges and universities, language schools, vocational training outlets and other institutions. Careers is a channel through which job seekers can make contact with commercial enterprises, government departments, semi-government organisations, professional associations and recruitment media.

The Government of Hong Kong has been giving high priority to education at all levels, and has nominated education as one of the six key industries which will give greater impetus to Hong Kong’s economic development. HKTDC Education & Careers Expo has the same objective, providing an ideal platform of mutual communication for educational organizations, corporations, students, and job seekers. With Hong Kong’s increasing emphasis on educational and career development service, more and more students, scholars and in-service personnel will attend the Expo.

In 2009, the Expo welcomed 514 exhibitors, including educational institutions from around the world, together with public and private sector employers. Participants came from far and wide, with exhibitors from 14 countries and regions: Australia, Canada, the Chinese mainland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Macau, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UK and the US.

2010 sees the introduction of two new zones: Creative Education Zone and Professions and Accreditation Zone. Creative Education Zone aims to present a wide range of educational and training options as well as career development prospects in Hong Kong’s cultural and creative sector. Universities and institutes, both local and non-Hong Kong, will provide higher education and vocational training on subjects related to Cultural Creativity, Technology Creativity and Economic Creativity. Industry associations, professional institutes and accreditation bodies will join as institutional exhibitors or coordinate their members to form sectoral pavilions in the Professions and Accreditation Zone. Exhibitors include Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), LCCI International Qualifications, and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. The zone will provide the latest information and trends in accounting, architecture, actuarial science, engineering and surveying industries. In the zone, the Institute of Financial Planner of Hong Kong Pavilion will once again bring attendees worthwhile opportunities to communicate with financial professionals.

The Expo will feature a number of special theme days each with a different focus, such as Chinese Mainland Study Day, Creative Education Day, U.S. Study Day and Professions and Accreditation Day. A wide ranging programme of events and seminars on educational and career development opportunities, as well as education forums and career video presentations, will also be on offer throughout the Expo.
