Business Chicks announces a not to be missed event featuring international activist Somaly Mam. Born in Cambodia, Somaly was sold into the sex trade at age 12 and has endured trauma that is beyond our imagination. She miraculously escaped and has since tirelessly fought for the women and girls left behind.

Now a front runner for the anti-trafficking struggle, Somaly has garnered worldwide respect including being chosen as UK Glamour Magazine’s Woman of the Year. Business Chicks are honoured to be able to share Somaly’s story; a woman who’s working to make our world a better place for women and girls.

Somaly will speak at a Business Chicks Breakfast in Sydney on Friday 9 November and in Melbourne on Friday 16 November. Both mornings will raise funds for Australian not-for-profit PROJECT FUTURES who have brought Somaly to Australia and largely fund her work.

Once a victim herself, Somaly is now the voice for victims around the world. “For 17 years I’ve been helping the girls – I want to empower victims to be survivors and empower survivors to become part of the solution. To me, if we save one girl; it is saving many.” Somaly says.

There are still tickets left for both breakfasts, so book now at and get behind Somaly and her work.

Business Chicks

At Business Chicks we believe that great stuff happens when women come together to uplift and inspire each other. When we stop competing, and start lending a hand. When we give of ourselves and our expertise so that others can benefit from it. We imagine a world where women feel part of something bigger than themselves, and a world where we feel safe to give anything a go.
