Life will be easier for more than 4,661 local job seekers from today, thanks to a new app – Express Plus Jobseekers.

Member for Adelaide Kate Ellis said the app was the next wave of smart assistance for locals.

“This app is a quality tool that provides people genuine assistance to people who are looking for a job,” Ms Ellis said.

“It is simple and user-friendly and it means that job seekers can now save valuable time and effort by not needing to visit a Centrelink service centre or wait on the phone.”

Ms Ellis said the new app would help many of the 6,505 of people receiving Newstart, Youth Allowance or Parenting Payment in her electorate.

“We know about half of the job seekers here in Adelaide own a smartphone, and this number will grow,” Ms Ellis said.

“These people can now conduct their business with the Government much faster and much more easily. They can report income, apply for an advance payment or check their account history much faster than ever before.”

The app is free to download from Google Play using an Android phone or tablet, and will be available for other smartphones in coming months.

The app is part of a larger drive to make things easier for people, with the Government working on apps for other user groups and other platforms.

The Labor Government is changing the face of service delivery in this country – so it is smarter and faster, and allows professional officers to focus their time on complex cases.

Express Plus Job Seekers app is now available to download from Google Play. It will be available on other platforms in coming months.

Job seekers must be registered for online services in order to access the app. To register for Centrelink Online Services and to find out more about Express Plus Job Seekers, go to
