Western Australian family-owned Seasons Funerals are embracing the iGeneration and from October are kicking off a funeral first with iPad attendance registers.

This innovation will allow a family to send out electronic communication such as thank you for attending notes, anniversary and birthday reminders etc. The information will also be able to be transferred to memorial sites such as Heaven’s Address, which are now almost ubiquitous in the memorial industry.

According to General Manager, Erin Erceg, whilst the industry in general terms have embraced tablet technologies to showcase catalogues and present pertinent information to families, no funeral planners in WA, and indeed to their knowledge anywhere else in Australia, are using technologies in this fashion.

“This is new, most definitely in WA, and being able to offer families the opportunity to instantly thank, remind and talk to the attendees of the funeral will be very helpful,” said Ms Erceg.

“Being able to integrate and transfer to memorial sites such as Heaven’s Address we believe will be extremely popular with families,” she said.

Seasons were the first to introduce DVD tributes in the industry, recently conducted the first “floating funeral” on the Swan River, and also recently partnered with IWalkGreen to launch a global tree planting service that both offsets emissions and commemorates deceased loved ones.
