Escape rooms are a unique family activity, guaranteed to excite young and old alike.

For parents of hard-to-please teens, finding ways to get the family enthused about spending time together over the holidays can be a tough ask. However, the owner of Escape Hunt Adelaide, Steven Moad, thinks escape rooms are the perfect solution.

"We are seeing more and more families with teenage and young adult kids coming in to experience an Escape Hunt escape room together. It’s a fun way for families to spend time together, everyone can contribute to different parts of the game and we see some great family interactions. We love seeing families spending quality time together in such a unique way."

Escape rooms are a fast-growing craze around the world, but still relatively new in Adelaide. Escape Hunt Adelaide in Rundle Mall has been open for just over a year and is looking forward to providing lots of fun for families over the holiday season.

‘Last summer holidays we saw a huge amount of families playing our escape rooms. Since then we have seen a constant and steady growth in both awareness of escape rooms and excitement about the concept. We’re expecting to see even more families coming in to challenge themselves and have some fun these holidays.’ says Moad.

Escape Hunt Adelaide’s escape room games are all unique and each is an Adelaide-themed mystery. Teams of 2-6 players choose from one of three games and spend 1 hour ‘locked’ in a room together solving puzzles, hunting for clues and cracking codes to unravel the mystery and make their escape. Escape Hunt is also licensed as a small bar, so Mum and Dad can relax with a glass of South-Australian wine after the game, whilst the kids challenge each other to a game of chess, a board game or a puzzle. According to Moad, this is a big part of Escape Hunt’s appeal.

"We wanted to create an escape room experience with a difference. Families can really make an afternoon or evening of it at Escape Hunt. Following the thrill and excitement of the escape room they can hang out together in our Sherlock Holmes-themed lounge and debrief the experience. We often hear families debating their escape strategies for next time, celebrating their wins and analysing their defeats. It creates a conversation for hours after the game."

With pricing starting from just $30pp, Escape Hunt’s escape rooms are an affordable way for families to spend time together, doing something completely outside-the-box and providing excitement and an adrenalin rush for teenagers, parents and even grandparents.
