It’s time to grab the kids and jump in the car for a great family adventure to Kangaroo Island with kids travelling free on SeaLink ferries between 1 September and 14 December.

While children aged under three have always travelled free to Kangaroo Island, for most of the spring season up to three children aged three to 14 can travel free on SeaLink ferries when travelling with two full fare paying adults and a vehicle – a saving of up to $144. School holidays and the October long weekend are also included but some conditions apply.

“Spring is an amazing time to visit Kangaroo Island and with this great special, you just can’t afford to miss out,” SeaLink Marketing Manager Julie-Anne Briscoe says.

“And the entire island is an adventure playground for kids offering everything from sand boarding at Little Sahara to fishing from the many beaches, jetties or charter boats, quad biking, kayaking, caving and much more.

“Imagine following an echidna train through the bush, spotting koalas in the trees at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, feeding kangaroos at Parndana Wildlife Park, tasting delicious Ligurian Bee honey ice-cream at Clifford’s Honey Farm, seeing sheep being milked and then tasting taste the delicious cheeses and yoghurts at Islander Pure Sheep Dairy and then topping it off with a climb to the top of Cape Willoughby Lighthouse, the first lighthouse to be built in South Australia.”

Ms Briscoe says with the weather warming up, migratory birds are on the move, Australian sea-lions are basking on the beach at Seal Bay and some of the most beautiful, tiny, terrestrial orchids are flowering across the island.

“From breathtaking natural beauty that will leave adults in awe, to the numerous sandy beaches that kids will love, Kangaroo Island is the ultimate setting for any family holiday.” Ms Briscoe says.

“They’ll have experiences on Kangaroo Island that one would never be able to have living on the mainland in a city or suburban area – it really is a special place.”

SeaLink is also offering a free discount voucher booklet which has vouchers for attractions, activities, cafes, restaurants and for mums and dads, cellar doors.

When it comes to places to stay, SeaLink can also help by offering more than 120 different accommodation properties ranging from hotels and motels through to B&Bs, apartments, caravan parks, cabins and holiday houses.

“Whether you’re looking for a coastal holiday house just metres from a pristine beach or a rural property where kids can spot kangaroos from the verandah, SeaLink has it covered,” Ms Briscoe says.
