South Australian business process optimisation company Scan Conversion Services (SCS) was honoured as a leader in the employment and inclusion of people with a disability (small to medium organisation) at the 2009 [email protected] Awards.

The [email protected] Awards celebrate organisations and individuals who implement strategies to embrace the diverse community within their workplace.

Since April 2008, SCS has provided training and employment opportunities to 35 people with various types of disabilities its scanning services franchise, which operates across Australia, NZ and Asia. Of these 35 job seekers, 15 are still employed by SCS, with the remaining 20 moving to other employment opportunities armed with the experience gained from their training.

Judges commended the organisation’s long term commitment to disability employment and continual development of new initiatives, including promoting disability employment to other businesses.

[email protected], CEO, Mark Heaysman, was extremely pleased with the results of the ninth annual awards in “a year of exceptional pressures on businesses, government and communities”.

“Numerous organisations were required to critically examine their operations and drastically scale back on programs, initiatives and employee numbers which has undoubtedly impacted workplace diversity programs and diversity groups, the silent victims of the Global Financial Crisis,” says Mark.

“Therefore, I find it truly heartwarming to bear witness to organisations, such as Scan Conversion Services who have maintained their focus and stood firm to their convictions within these tough times.”
