Building and renovator group-buying website has partnered with one of Australia’s largest trades publications to promote itself directly to one of its key markets.

The partnership will see Trade Saver and publisher Media 21’s The Tradie magazine cross promote each other’s services through a number of avenues.

The Tradie, which prints 60,000 copies each month and has a large online database is touted as ‘the voice of one million Aussie tradies’.

Trade Saver managing director Toby Diamand says the trades industry is an important market for the company and the deal with Media 21 will allow immediate penetration into the industry.

“This is a perfect fit for both company’s as we are interested in reaching as many tradespeople as possible and Media 21 require and e-commerce function for its website,” Mr Diamand says.

“The partnership will include a special locked deal for The Tradie subscribers promoted on the Trade Saver website, banner advertising and Facebook and email campaigns to the magazine’s database.

“Trade Saver will also provide The Tradie with a back end merchant facility to allow the magazine to offer its own online deals on tools and building supplies.”

According to Media 21 The Tradie gets product and industry reviews, news and promotions to the entire trade community in an entertaining and informative way, fuelling word-of-mouth discussion on-site and providing “pub ammo” for after work banter.

A majority of the magazines are handed out at trade stores, including branches of CSS, Home Hardware, Mitre 10, RSEA and Toolmart, while 30 per cent are distributed to 300 plus trade sites and 10 per cent are distributed through lunch trucks, select pubs, tuck shops, milk bars and cafes.

Media 21 manager Stephen Balme says the company has been keeping an eye on a number of online trades sites however Trade Saver is the first one to successfully bring together all the elements required to meet its needs.

“While an online buying platform for the trades industry is not new, the model which Trade Saver has developed is unique,” Mr Balme says.

“We have been offering one-off tool and equipment deals through The Tradie website, however the Trade Saver platform will allow us to do much more.

“It’s important for us to maintain our credibility to our target market which is why using Trade Saver as a back end e-commerce solution is an attractive prospect us.

“We can now offer our readers The Tradie branded deals while opening up a larger range of opportunitiues to them through co-branded initiatives with Trade Saver.”

Trade Saver is the first group buying platform specialising in trade based products and services for the building and construction industries, including the quickly evolving renovation market, providing them more for their money through heavily discounted deals.
