Insider Guides, the makers of the free 'Australia - Student Guide' app on iPhone and Android, and Victorian’s Alpine Resorts, have come together to give local and international students the chance to win an experience of a lifetime.

One lucky student and 3 friends could be heading to Mt Buller this winter to experience the ski slopes of Victoria's High Country. The prize includes:

• Return coach transfers from Melbourne city for four people
• Mt Buller entry fee for four people
• Overnight accommodation at Buller Backpackers or similar for four people
• Two day lift pass – Standard Pass or Discover Pass (Discover Pass includes a two hour lesson and access to seven beginner lifts) for four people
• Jacket, pants and ski hire for two days

The total value of the prize is approximately $2,300. Competition ends 30/6/12.

To enter, students need to download the free app from the App Store and Google Play store, and follow the prompts from the main screen.

Insider Guides Managing Director James Martin says many students, especially international students, are not aware of just how easy it is to visit the snowfields of Victoria. "We speak to new international students all the time, and many have no idea that the snow is just a few hours drive from Melbourne. We are thrilled that through our app, we are able to give international students the chance to experience something new, exciting and memorable!"

“Victorian Resorts have also made it possible for students to visit the snowfields on their terms, with a range of deals designed specifically for students.” Martin says. “Just visit or download the 'Australia – Student Guide' app to learn more.”

Insider Publishing

Insider Publishing was originally a project started by local university students. The aim of which was to create free social-based guidebooks for international students.

After establishing the Insider Guides - International Student Guide in the Adelaide market, the team worked with key government and private stakeholders in Victoria to secure funding for a Melbourne edition of Insider Guides in 2010.

Since then, they have successfully expanded the free, annual guide into Brisbane (through a Brisbane Marketing co-branding deal), Sydney (through a City of Sydney co-branding deal) and Perth.

In 2012, they launched Australia's first student guide app for iPhone and Android.

Insider Publishing was recently awarded the 2012 UniSA Pank Prize for Entrepreneurial Activity.
