  • On-demand courier system to support Fastway franchisees during peak periods
  • Blu courier roles to provide flexible work options for Australians wanting to pick their own hours to suit their lifestyle
  • Applications now being taken – all you need is a car and the desire to work when you want in your local community

30 November 2016:  With Christmas just around the corner, there’s a great new option to earn some extra cash, working when it suits by becoming a Blu Courier.

Leading delivery network, Fastway Couriers is tapping into the power of the sharing economy with the launch of its innovative Blu Courier system to support its 800 Courier Franchisees.

Blu Couriers will be rolling out across Sydney and Brisbane over Christmas connecting Fastway Couriers Franchisees with their local workforce.

Coping with surge periods is one of the biggest challenges faced by Fastway Couriers’ independently owned and operated franchisees. Utilising the existing network of leading courier service provider, Fastway Couriers, Blu Couriers taps into the growing sharing economy to engage drivers, when they are available, that Fastway’s Courier Franchisees can use in busier periods.

Richard Thame, CEO Fastway Couriers says Blu is the perfect solution, allowing real-time scale up to meet demand via a network of local, ad hoc, fully-trained Blu Couriers.

“By taking advantage of the sharing economy, we’re able to help our Fastway Courier Franchisees cope with their biggest challenge of surges in demand and we’re able to provide car-owning Australians with the freedom of becoming a Blu Courier and working when they want within their local community,” Fastway CEO Richard Thame said.

“Following the success of our pilot program we anticipate in the next 12 months over 1000 Australians will take advantage of the flexible working style of Blu Couriers .  It’s a great way to earn extra cash and all you need is to meet minimum requirements , have a car and complete our half day training. You get to choose which jobs you accept and the delivery area is local so becoming a Blu Courier is perfect for anyone wanting to work when it suits them like university students, parents between school runs and people looking for extra income."

”The lead up to Christmas sees demand for delivery services rise dramatically. With three in four internet users in Australia now shopping online, delivery demand is only going to continue to climb. So, we looked to how we could ensure that customers are receiving their parcels without delay, even in peak periods.  It’s estimated our freight volume will increase by over 15% during this period and with the support of Blu Couriers we’ll better manage this spike in parcel movements," Richard Thame, CEO Fastway Couriers said.

“We know from our successful pilots in Sydney and Brisbane that, in addition to solving a major problem for our couriers, there’s very strong appetite for casual work with flexibility and that’s exactly what being a Blu Courier provides," says Mr Thame.
