There’s a lot of volatility in the global economy and the same is true for the Australian property market. To ensure your property purchase is a safe investment, buyers are cautioned to avoid risky areas.

An exclusive report published in the latest issue of Your Investment Property magazine out today, reveals the suburbs around Australia that are dropping in value or may be about to fall over.

Commenting on the report’s findings, editor Nila Sweeney said,
“Buyers should be on the look out for signs of overheating, falling demand and weakening fundamentals. There are some suburbs that have unrealistically high house and rental prices, which in the long-term are not sustainable.”

Among those areas guilty of being risky investments are mining towns and tourist areas where values have been pushed up by one growth driver. Buyers in these areas are at risk of paying too much and seeing values fall once a major project shuts down or the tourism industry falters.
