Moodlemoot AU 2012, Asia Pacific’s most comprehensive conference dedicated to Moodle promises to be the biggest yet.
Already attracting over 400 delegates and with registrations still growing, the registration figures provide testament to Moodle’s rising popularity. Moodle, a globally successful, Australian made, open source Learning Management System (LMS), is now the most widely used LMS in the AUS/NZ education sector with 40% of Australian universities using it at an enterprise level.
The 2011 Moodlemoot attracted 550 delegates making it the biggest Moodlemoot AU, the 2012 event is showing signs of equalling and surpassing these numbers.
Moodle’s strength in flexibility and adaptability has also seen its presence expand into the corporate, government and health sectors, with these areas being well represented at the upcoming Moodlemoot.
The 2012 conference program also reflects Moodle’s wave of worldwide popularity with exceptional speakers from the USA, South Africa, Italy, Hong Kong, Australia, UK, Canada and New Zealand attending.
Keynote speaker Martin Dougiamas, Moodle Founder and Lead Developer will discuss Moodle as a platform for innovation, recent and future developments in Moodle and the forces that are driving Moodle development. Other keynote speakers include Thomas Cochrane, Academic Advisor and Senior Lecturer in Educational Technology, Auckland University of Technology, Elizabeth Ellis, Manager, ABC Learning Projects and Solua Middleton, ABC Open Producer.
Addressing the ‘Riding the Wave' theme that ties in with Gold Coast beach location, Moodlemoot 2012 will provide opportunities for its participants to learn and share in workshops and Masterclasses that will focus on core themes such as Breaking Moodle Barriers, Extending Moodle and Moodle Showcases. Proving popular, one Masterclass and several workshops have already sold out.
