Therma Truck from Smithfield in Sydney last night won the Significant Achievement Award category of the 2012 Manufacturers' Monthly Endeavour Awards. A Highly Commended award was also presented to Chocolatier Australia from Heidelberg West in Victoria.

The awards were presented during a dinner at Doltone House at Jones Bay Wharf, Pyrmont.

The Manufacturing Monthly Endeavour Awards recognise and celebrate the efforts of industry leaders in achieving excellence in manufacturing. The Enterprise Connect Significant Achievement Award is open to current or former Enterprise Connect clients.

The Minister for Industry and Innovation, Greg Combet, said it was encouraging to see that 51 of the 90 nominees across all categories at the Endeavour Awards were Enterprise Connect clients.

Therma Truck transformed its business after implementing recommendations from an Enterprise Connect Business Review. Therma Truck embraced principles of lean manufacturing, achieving a significant reduction in overall inventory.

After undertaking a Business Review, Chocolatier increased productivity by 35 per cent, reduced lead times by 25 per cent and is on target to achieve 2012-13 sales forecasts a year ahead of schedule.

Mr Combet said: "I congratulate all those involved in the Endeavour Awards for their role in celebrating the innovation that will ensure Australian manufacturing has a strong future."

"The Australian Government is working with manufacturers and their employees to help the sector innovate and achieve the productivity gains that are needed to maintain and improve competitiveness."

Enterprise Connect provides businesses with the skills, tools and knowledge to become competitive, productive and sustainable. Since 2008, more than 12,500 businesses have accessed Enterprise Connect services - around 70 per cent from the manufacturing sector.
