The Board of Directors of national not-for-profit organisation, Connecting Up Inc has announced that former Centrelink Chief Executive and Inaugural Telstra Business Woman of the Year, Sue Vardon, has been appointed as the new Chair of their Board of Directors. Ms Vardon replaces Mr Bruce Linn, who has resigned from the Connecting Up Board to pursue other interests after 5 years in the Chair.

Connecting Up is best known for its Donortec technology product donation program in partnership with US not-for-profit TechSoup Global that has delivered savings of over $150m to community organisations in Australia, New Zealand and several Asian countries. The donation program channels donated software and hardware from major players such as Microsoft, Cisco, Symantec, and SAP to qualified not-for-profits and charities. It also provides the national Directory of Not-for-Profits and Charities and the annual national Connecting Up conference showcasing technology trends for not-for-profits, especially in the areas of social media, marketing and fundraising.

Ms Vardon has spent 23 years as a Chief Executive in various Commonwealth and South Australian State Government agencies. She is a member of the National and SA State Boards of Red Cross, is Deputy Chair of Australian Sponsorship for African Kids.

Outgoing Connecting Up Board Chair, Bruce Linn, said “I am delighted that Sue has agreed to take up the Chair’s role, bringing her extensive governance experience, her considerable networks and her passion for making a difference to Connecting Up’s ongoing capacity building work with not-for-profits in Australia, New Zealand and Asia”.
