Campers can now plan out a flexible menu of meals with all the goodness of fresh fruit and vegetables without having to pack perishable produce for the trip.

When you’re spending several days out in the bush camping, hiking or fishing, your body needs the daily intake of fruit and vegies to keep your energy and nutrition levels up.

The challenge is finding a solution to ensure campers get enough of the required nutritional intake to have the energy to stay active outdoors, despite their lack of cool storage for perishable fruits and vegies.

An Australian nutrition company, Super Sprout, has found the answer through an innovative new functional food that can help campers meet their daily vitamin and mineral requirements.

Super Sprout CEO Melinda Richards says packing Super Sprout powders for a camping trip allows people to eat healthy and stay energetic with ease.

“We produce a range of 100 per cent pure fruit and vegetable powders that retain all the nutrients, minerals and flavours, just as if you were buying fresh produce off the shelf at your local supermarket or grocer,” Ms Richards says.

“A lack of proper nourishment can make you feel exhausted, weak, and sluggish – which is the last thing you want when you’re on a trip with physical activities planned.

“The benefit of using Super Sprout powders it that you can add the goodness of real fruit and vegies into camping dishes, giving an extra kick of flavour as well as maximising the nutritional value.”

Ms Richards says she hopes Super Sprout products can make going away much easier for campers who struggle to get their daily dose of fresh fruit and vegetables.

“The Super Sprout range is available in 80g and 150g tubs, giving you more space to pack and more substantial meals when you camp,” Ms Richards says.

“Super Sprout is not a substitute for a healthy and balanced diet, but there are times in our lives when we need a little help.

“It’s just a different way to think about food and are a fantastic addition to your favourite open-fire recipe giving it a real boost in nutritional value.”

Ms Richards says the process of freeze-drying the fruit and vegetables is key to the product range retaining all their goodness.

“Freeze drying has been available for many years, however Super Sprout's unique method extracts only water and moisture leaving the cell structure in tact, allowing the nutrients to remain untouched,” Ms Richards says.

“We provide a product that is unique to both the Australian and international markets, which even after being packaged retains all the goodness of the original food. They can even be used up to three months after being opened.

“Super Sprout powders are a different way to think about food and are a fantastic addition to your favourite recipe giving it a real boost in nutritional value.”

The entire Super Sprout range includes broccoli sprout, wheatgrass sprout, apple, lemon, strawberry, beetroot, carrot, ginger, blueberry and barleygrass sprout.
