“The Retreat,” a disability respite house run by The Caboolture Family Network, has received a new sensory garden, walkways, a concrete path system for wheelchair access and much more as one of the projects now completed by the National Green Jobs Corps.

Participants of the Caboolture Community and Garden Project will be attending the project graduation ceremony on Thursday 2 February, where several graduates will be receiving their qualifications in Certificate II in Horticulture, First Aid and their White Card Construction Cards.

In attendance at the graduation ceremony will be Deputy Mayor Greg Chippendale who said that the work of the National Green Jobs Corps team will positively influence the community.

“The NGJC team have done a remarkable job in refurbishing these gardens,” the Deputy Mayor said.

“The project provided a supportive environment for these young people to develop new skills and learn to work in a team environment and provided the community with new landscaped gardens, it?s a win-win partnership for everyone.”

Although most of the Caboolture Community and Garden Project centred around the activities at "The Retreat,? project participants also worked on a site at the Caboolture PCYC where they participated in nursery skills development, ground maintenance and community inclusion days and on a site at the Caboolture Community Action House where they were involved with the house renovation project.

Managing Director of MAX Employment, Mr Michael Hobday, is pleased to see the participants embrace the initiative.

“Past results from National Green Jobs Corps projects have shown a diverse impact on participants."

"The program provides a forum for job seekers to network and make friends, earn recognised certification, instil positive work ethics, develop new skills and experiences and build confidence and self esteem,” Mr Hobday comments.

MAX Employment clients joined forces with other Job Service Australia (JSA) providers in the Caboolture area to complete this project.
