A new industry development campaign has been launched to build the Tasmanian dairy industry by not only promoting local dairy farm investment, but also by attracting New Zeland and European migrants to invest in Tasmanian dairy farms.
With the theme "a great place to live, a great place to dairy", the campaign is aimed at Australian and foreign investment. In the past 10 years New Zealand farmers have purchased 10 to 15 per cent of the Tasmanian farms, but this campaign sets out to sell the state's lifestyle qualities to European farmers who are more attracted to quality of life issues, as well economic returns.
The campaign is to be supported with a website,, a one-stop information shop for potential investors.
