“Today is an historic day for Australia’s solar industry, a major step to a clean energy future”, said John Grimes, the Chief Executive of the Australian Solar Energy Society (AuSES), Australia’s peak solar industry body.

“We are finally penalising pollution and rewarding clean energy. This will deliver substantial investment in solar power and position Australia as a solar nation,” said Grimes.

“Household solar, commercial solar, and Big Solar make economic and environmental sense, and their time has come.”

“The Clean Energy Future package – the carbon price, the $3.2 billion Australian Renewable Energy Agency and the $10 billion Clean Energy Finance Corporation - will supercharge solar.”

“Bloomberg New Energy Finance has projected that the Clean Energy Future package could deliver 5 gigawatts of large-scale solar photovoltaics and 2 gigawatts of large-scale solar thermal by 2020, on top of many gigawatts of residential and commercial solar.”

“The Australian Solar Energy Society calls on the Australian Government to introduce legislation as soon as possible to establish the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and calls on the Opposition to support this important clean energy institution.”

“The Australian Solar Energy Society congratulates the Gillard Government, the Australian Greens and the Independent Members of the Multi-Party Committee on Climate Change for their concerted efforts to build a clean energy future.”
