SeaLink launches new destination marketing campaign in South Australia

Adelaideans are being urged to take an island getaway in their own backyard as part of a new SeaLink campaign promoting Kangaroo Island holidays.

Coinciding with the launch of the South Australian Tourism Commission’s Best Backyard campaign, the ‘It’s about time’ campaign promotes the closeness of Kangaroo Island to Adelaide - just a 45 minute ferry ride from Cape Jervis – comparing it with a 10-hour flight to Bali, 8-hour flight to Fiji and 14-hour flight to Hawaii.

“Many residents of Adelaide don’t realise that they have access to an affordable island getaway in their own backyard,” SeaLink Promotions Manager Julie-Anne Briscoe says.

“Forget the visas, passports and tiresome airport layovers: you even have the option and convenience of taking your own car across on the ferry.

“And people can visit Kangaroo Island for as little as $19.90 one-way on our twilight ferry service – that’s similar to a taxi fare across Adelaide’s CBD or the price of a movie ticket.”

Self-drive holidays feature in the campaign, with deals on offer such as return SeaLink ferry travel with a car and two nights’ accommodation in a cabin at the Emu Bay Holiday Homes starting from just $204pp.

“There are also a number of 4WD, small and large coach tours available ranging from one, two and three days and include return ferry and coach transfers from Adelaide, accommodation, meals and sightseeing. Tours start from just $248 per person,” Ms Briscoe says.

The ‘It’s about time’ campaign will be advertised extensively across TV, press, billboards, window displays, online and on Rundle Mall’s big screen.

“The campaign is part of SeaLink’s commitment to Kangaroo Island’s tourism industry which is one of Australia’s major tourism drawcards alongside places like Sydney Harbour and the Great Barrier Reef,” Ms Briscoe says.
