Daniel Shteyn, Managing Director of DollarsDirect, a leading online finance broker in Australia, testified before the Australian House of Representatives on 24 October 2011 regarding the amendments to the National Credit Code Protection Act (NCCPA) proposed by the Gillard Government.

“We appreciate the opportunity to work with the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services, as well as Minister Shorten and his staff, in order to ensure an outcome which results in additional consumer protection while retaining a viable short-term credit industry,” Shteyn said.

On 22 September 2011, the lower house referred the Consumer Credit and Corporations Legislation Amendment Bill 2011 for inquiry and report to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services. DollarsDirect hoped to provide insight into how the proposed NCCPA amendments will affect the industry in general, and e-commerce operators in particular.
