As the bill for putting a carbon tax on some of Australia’s biggest polluters passed through the House of Representatives last week, Australia’s official tax on carbon is drawing near and the carbon pricing mechanism will soon become a reality.

As this start date for the carbon tax approaches (1 July 2012), the need for carbon credits will push for new, innovative projects that use cleaner technologies to deliver greenhouse gas abatement. FEECO International aims to use their granulation technology to help companies to establish their own greenhouse gas abatement projects with the potential to create carbon credits.

As a major player in the fertilizer industry for over 60 years, FEECO’s highly advanced granulation processes can produce granular, fertilizer grade products from items such as paper waste, green waste, brown coal, and manure. The granulation of these materials plays an important role in establishing projects that result in the generation of carbon credits.

Not only will the granulation of these waste materials into fertilizer grade products help ease the pressure on businesses in need of carbon credits, but it will also aid in boosting Australia’s agriculture industry. Australia’s ancient soils are lacking carbon, and the addition of carbon-rich fertilizers will help to replenish the soil and improve soil productivity.

FEECO’s Australia facility is fully equipped to run agglomeration and granulation feasibility tests, and is backed by its corporate office in Green Bay, WI. FEECO has been transforming landfill-bound waste materials into value-added, marketable products for decades.
