Peak electrical industry body, the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA), today announced that final arrangements were in place for the gathering of the electrical and communications industry for a trade show and seminar program to be held on Friday 28 October 2011at Club Macquarie at Argenton just south of Newcastle.

The trade show and seminars will be open to electrical and communications contractors and their employees, apprentices, school and TAFE students and members of the public with an interest in the industry. Entry is free.

Speaking about the industry event which will be held between 1.00pm and 6.30pm on 28 October 2011, NECA NSW chief executive, Lindsay Le Compte, said that 16 manufacturers and suppliers would be attending the trade show to display products and systems and would have experts present to assist the industry.

“We are very pleased with the support the industry has received for this event from so many of the major manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers. The trade show will really help electrical contractors stay on top of the key issues and help make their businesses stronger,” Mr Le Compte said.

“NECA is also providing free seminars for the industry on a number of important issues as part of the Association’s industry training and education program. The seminars include a presentation by NECA Legal on debt recovery and security of payment claims and a presentation by WorkCover NSW on the forthcoming national workplace health and safety legislation due to commence from 1 January 2012”.

Mr Le Compte said that one of NECA’s key roles is to ensure that the industry is kept up to date with new products as well as the latest in legislative and operational matters through continuing professional development.

Mr Le Compte also announced that Mr Greg Piper, local State Member of Parliament and Mayor of Lake Macquarie City Council, would be attending the trade show at the conclusion of the seminars at 5.30pm.

“We are very pleased with the level of local support for the trade show and also Mr Piper’s agreement to attend”.
