Jobfind Centres Australia has secured funding from the Northern Territory Government to deliver Hospitality training in the remote Indigenous community of Ngukurr.

Next month, 18 members of the Indigenous community of Ngukurr in south-east Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, will begin Hospitality training to provide essential staff for a new Motel that is currently being built in the community.

The eight week Certificate II course, offered by Jobfind and funded by the Northern Territory Department of Education and Training (DET), will add a much needed skills boost to the community while at the same time providing guaranteed jobs for the course’s participants.

The development of the Motel will help to further improve the social and economic standing of the small remote community, by providing a place to stay for guests who visit the community. And, thanks to the Jobfind Hospitality training program, the Motel’s new team of employees will be able to provide guests with all of the necessary hotel functions including housekeeping, reception duties, and food and beverage service.

“We are very proud to be working together with the community, the Northern Territory Government and the Federal Government to deliver training and employment services that improve the lives of the people of Ngukurr”, said Jim Holland, General Manager of Jobfind Centres Northern Territory. “Over the next two months, eighteen Ngukurr men and women will transition from unemployment into sustainable jobs and that’s a great result for all.”
