Muway Constructions, based in the Kimberley, is paving the way for creating sustainable remote communities throughout Western Australia. A partnership between the acclaimed Australian Eco Constructions and Indigenous Traditional Owners, the benefits are mutual, progressive and highly rewarding. It gives Indigenous people the opportunity to share equally in the development and construction opportunities available on their traditional lands.

Joe Ross is a member of the Bunuba people from Fitzroy Crossing and has been prominent in the development of the Muway vision.

"It's all about economic, environmental and cultural sustainability - the key elements to making remote Indigenous communities self sustainable."

Muway Constructions nurtures local Indigenous tradespeople in a supportive learning environment, guided by Indigenous mentors. Young building apprentices and labourers can gain on the job practical experience with professional, qualified builders, and obtain an accredited qualification in building and/or machine operating. In return, Muway Constructions gains non-itinerant employees who best understand their region's unique and often challenging building needs from a structural and cultural perspective. This unique collaboration also empowers Indigenous people with the means to start their own successful businesses in their home communities, thus generating local sustainable employment and income.

Muway Constructions is building for the future. The company seeks to minimise its ecological footprint, with minimal disturbance to the surrounding environment during construction. Building designs are cutting-edge, resource efficient and cost-effective - sustainable solutions for small and large scale residential, commercial and tourism projects.
