The Zonta Club of Adelaide has presented its annual Women of Achievement awards, celebrating women who had made a major contribution to enhancing the status of women across diverse areas of endeavour.

President Lynn Oxlad said: “This year we are thrilled to present these awards to women who are outstanding role models for other women.”

The award winners include: Dianne Davidson (Outstanding Business Woman); Anna Goldsworthy (Outstanding Musician); Leila Henderson (Outstanding Entrepreneur); Monica McInerney (Outstanding Writer) and Erin Woolford (Outstanding service to the Status of Women).

This year the Zonta Club of Adelaide has presented two awards of $500 each to Adelaide High School students Nicole Tang and Bonnie Trinh for the purpose of encouraging female students to complete secondary school education, to give students a better opportunity to fulfil their potential and increase their career choices. In addition, Phiala Shanahan will be presented with the Zonta Club’s annual scholarship of $2,500 for post graduate honours research at The University of Adelaide and Alison Pennington will be awarded the outstanding student in 2nd Year Gender Studies prize at The University of Adelaide. Elizabeth Carroll-Shaw (student at Walford Anglican School for Girls to 2010) will be awarded the Zonta Club of Adelaide’s Young Woman in Public Affairs prize for 2010.
