Brunei Darussalam / Sydney, Australia – Medical staff in Brunei can now look forward to using a fully digital healthcare system, following signing of an agreement to deliver the Brunei Healthcare Information System (Bru-HIMS). iSOFT, a CSC company, will supply the iSOFT Enterprise Management solution, a hospital information system widely used in the South East Asian region.

BRu-HIMS is a nationwide Brunei government project to digitise patient care and provide an electronic medical record (EMR). iSOFT’s local partner is Ishajaya Technology.

Forming the backbone of Brunei’s new digital health care system, iSOFT Enterprise Management is the hospital information solution that will provide access to patient data, identity management, process automation for administrative and clinical departments, workflow design and resource scheduling.

BRu-HIMS will provide a single electronic record for every patient - a vital step in increasing the safety, quality and cost-effectiveness of health care delivery.

“iSOFT has been servicing and managing large government health care projects in the South East Asian region for almost 20 years.” says Mr. James Rice, managing director, iSOFT Asia Pacific.

“Now that we are part of CSC, our ability to deliver value for clients like Brunei is greatly increased. Together, iSOFT and CSC have enormous experience and capability in the deployment of large, integrated, eHealth systems. We look forward to working with our local partner Ishajaya Technology and the Brunei MOH in the crucial transition to a digital health system, for safer, better and more efficient care,” added Mr. Rice.

In a statement, the Brunei MoH explained “we are investing in a fully digital, nationwide hospital information system to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivered to Brunei’s population of 400,000. Soon, every patient in Brunei will have a single electronic health record that is accessible from any government hospital, clinic or healthcare centre. This is an important step in assuring the health of our citizens into the future."

“Local presence and experience is important in a project like this,” explains Mr. Elvin Hii, chief executive officer, Ishajaya Technology. “With our partner iSOFT, we provide a combination of local expertise and resources, and a strong base of over 100 support personnel in the South East Asian region. Ishajaya Technology looks forward to collaborating with iSOFT and CSC to assist the Brunei MOH in connecting and digitizing the health care system.”
