Sydney, 21 September 2011: ChildFund Australia is searching for five passionate marathon runners to run the Dublin Marathon in October 2012 and fundraise to support our work with children in East Timor. Are you up for the challenge?

Known as “The Friendly Marathon”, the Dublin Marathon falls on a public holiday in Ireland, bringing thousands of spectators to the streets to cheer you on as you lap the city centre.

You’ll pass the finish line proud at what you’ve accomplished and ready to join your fellow marathon runners for a celebratory pint of Guinness.

Participants must fundraise $6,000 for ChildFund Australia, plus cover their travel costs. Money raised will provide essential healthcare training for community volunteers in East Timor, which could help save the lives of thousands of children.

Every day in East Timor children die from preventable illnesses such as malaria, diarrhoea and respiratory disease. In fact, one in 10 children die before the age of five. Your support will give children in East Timor the best chance of celebrating their fifth birthday.

This is a once in a lifetime adventure that will be a rewarding experience for participants and brighten the futures of many disadvantaged East Timorese children. There are only five spaces available so get in quick!
