Sydney Author and TV Presenter, Karen Miles, was crowned Mrs Australia 2011 in a glamorous catwalk event on Saturday 6 August.

Celebrating the community spirit and beauty of Australian women, Karen was chosen based on: personality, panel interviews, her extensive charity work for ovarian cancer awareness, as well as poise, beauty and modelling.

Karen will now represent Australia at the Mrs World international competition – the world’s largest event of its kind for married women - in December in the United States.

"My goal as Mrs Australia is to be a voice for women, to encourage them in their career, family and health, including being aware of the symptoms of ovarian cancer, my chosen charity, as there is currently no early detection test," says Karen Miles.

Karen is also a mum to two young children aged 3 and 6, and authored 'Career Advice you wish your mum had told you' and 'The Real Baby Book you need at 3am'.

Mrs Australia Quest

The Mrs Australia Quest is Australia’s most prestigious event for women today and actively promotes awareness of the early signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer.

Currently one woman dies every 11 hours in Australia, and three are diagnosed every day. There is currently no early detection test - a pap test doesn't cover it - making awareness of the symptoms vital for every woman.

The Mrs Australia Quest provides entrants with an opportunity to promote themselves, voice their opinions, get involved, network, fulfil personal goals, and compete on an international stage representing Australia. www.mrsaustraliaquest.com.au
