Toop TV roving reporter Tanja Goess uncovers what we all suspect – lack of confidence is making people wary of committing to high-price ticket items, with housing being top of the high-ticket pile (Episode 88 -

The upside of this uncertainty is our savings accounts have never looked fatter, which means there are plenty of people out there with the means to enter the property market in a big way once their confidence returns.

Anthony Toop interviews the leader of the Liberal Party in SA, Isobel Redmond, who points out that the State’s high land tax regime means investors are pulling out of the State. This in turn means fewer houses than needed are being built which could result in increased rents.

Ms Redmond pointed out the Liberals were working on making the square mile of Adelaide more attractive for people to live in as well as considering the needs of developers by giving them greater freedom to deal with heritage properties. The Liberals would also like to see the retention of the first home buyer’s grant.

Anthony threw the leader a curly one when he revealed he was aware of investors who had abandoned their entire SA property portfolio solely because of land tax and would the Liberals scrap land tax should they attain government?

The short answer was no, but for the longer explanation, watch Toop.TV.
