Opengear today announced the IP-KVM1001, an affordable palm-sized KVM-over-IP solution aimed at branch offices, distributed sites, computer rooms and data centers.

The IP-KVM1001 is a single port KVM-over-IP switch that provides a cost-effective and reliable way to IP connect servers in distributed networks and remote sites. It provides secure KVM control ‘at the rack’ or remotely over IP. IP-KVM can connect to the servers one at a time or connect to them through existing KVM switches.

“Our IP-KVM allows system managers to add remote KVM access to one server at a time and avoid the single point of failure that is common with multi-port KVM over IP solutions,” said Tony Merenda who heads Opengear’s global engineering operation in Brisbane.

“There’s also a large installed base of servers connected to legacy analog KVM switches in Australia that can now be IP-enabled for under $500,” he said.
