In the unfortunate event that someone around suffers from cardiac arrest, most know to call for emergency services immediately. This is correct as a first step, however as time ticks by awaiting for an ambulance, the cardiac arrest victim’s chances of survival are dwindling. The longer the victim goes without the heart properly pumping blood, the more chance there is of brain damage or even death. That is why cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR, is an important skill to know.

By administering CPR as soon as possible, the victim’s chances of survival greatly increase. According to a report by the American Heart Association, effective administration of CPR can double, or in some cases, triple the victim’s chances of survival. Unfortunately, according to that same report, less than a third of victims actually receive CPR when the emergency arises. One of the biggest reasons for this is due to the fact that many people have never taken CPR classes or received any CPR training.

Many people are hesitant to take CPR classes because they don’t feel they have the time, or fear that they won’t find a class that can fit into their schedule. Fortunately, this isn’t the case. Unlike other adult education courses, CPR training can take only a few hours and can be completed in one session. Even better, with online CPR classes, you don’t even have to search for a class in your area, or even leave your own home.

As with other online education courses, taking CPR classes online has become a popular choice for many busy adults. Unlike regular courses, many online CPR classes can be taken at any time. They also have the added benefit of allowing you to practice techniques at home in private at your own pace. Online courses are just as legitimate as standard courses, and many allow you to print out your certification at home.

With the development of online CPR classes, there is no reason anyone should hesitate in getting CPR training. While you hope you never have to use it, CPR could save the life of the one you love.
