Interactive Teaching Technology software wins 2011 CodiE™ Award
MimioStudio 7 software recognised as one of education industry’s finest products

Sydney, AUSTRALIA. – June 15, 2011 – DYMO/Mimio announced today that its MimioStudio™ 7 software has been named the winner of the prestigious CODiE Awards in the Best Educational Use of a Device-Specific Application category.

Established by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the CODiEs recognise excellence and achievement in the business software, digital content and education technology industries and is the only peer-reviewed awards program within those sectors.

MimioStudio 7 software seamlessly integrates with the MimioClassroom™ product suite of interactive teaching technology tools. Used with the MimioTeach™ interactive system, which converts any regular dry erase board into a fully interactive whiteboard, or any combination of elements from the product suite — the MimioVote™ assessment system, MimioView™ document camera, MimioPad™ wireless tablet and MimioCapture™ ink recording system — teachers can create interactive lessons with easy-to-use technology.

Emma Hobson, an English, society and environment teacher at Waikerie High School in South Australia has been trialling the DYMO/Mimio range of products and software with her students and is especially taken. “Mimio is fantastic”, Emma says. “It’s great to have really easy technology for the classroom that I can use to pre-prepare material and teach it with a great visual effect.”

The award-winning software provides teachers with tools to create engaging interactive lessons with features such as hundreds of templates, activities and images that can be customised and tailored for specific grade levels that also include required teaching standards. Emma notes that she uses Mimio and MimioStudio7 software for all kinds of classroom activities including “spelling, brainstorming, Venn diagrams, introducing a new task and essay writing. I’ve used it for everything, even my own list of tasks for the day!”

MimioStudio 7 also includes grade book capabilities, so teachers can easily track student progress and test scores in conjunction with the MimioVote assessment system. Emma is especially enthusiastic about MimioVote, stating that her students even look forward to their next tests. “It really helps with their concentration, especially for students who are not as engaged with written exams. My students love MimioVote and often ask me when we can use it next. It’s just a different way of learning.”

Peter Goldie, Mimio’s Australia Sales Manager, adds “We are honoured to receive this distinction from the software community. We’re thrilled that our colleagues recognise MimioStudio™ 7 software as an invaluable resource for educators using interactive teaching technologies.”

Now in its 26th year, the CODiE Awards continue to recognise those companies providing the best new technology products and services across a broad array of industries. In addition, its winners are a prolific testament to the power of technology to deliver innovative solutions to businesses and consumers.
