06.07.2011– Most recent studies from Q1 2011 shows that the email conversion rate of 3.0% is the strongest over a three year period. These figure come from the Q1 2011 Email Trends and Benchmarks study is compiled from 7.1 billion emails sent by Epsilon in Q1 (January – March) 2011.

Email Marketing was proven to be the second biggest influence on website traffic. That is second only to a pre-existing awareness of the brand.

In the UK last year, two times as many Christmas shoppers reported email promotions as the biggest influence on their decision to visit a website - rather than social media.

Indeed e-mail is the preferred method of commercial communication of 74% of all online adults.

Email Marketing’s trendy younger generation Social Media has swallowed up all the media attention in the last 18 months despite not delivering the same return on investment. Almost buried behind the noise of 90 million tweets is the fine art of email marketing.

Globally there was over 2.9 billion email accounts in 2010 and it is predicted to jump to over 3.8 billion by 2014. For many businesses, this means dusting off the old email marketing strategy.

Natalie Giddings from Pollen Marketing, has run email campaigns for organisations such as Microsoft, VMware and Citrix. She has put together a practical guide minus the jargon.

“It was very important that people understand that email is still the highest performing online marketing activity and is the easiest medium to track and monitor” said Giddings. “Many organisations know they should be doing something with email marketing but are not sure where to start.”

Social Media is terrific but is must be a means to an end. Not an end in itself. The guide is available from today at www.pollenmarketing.com.au
