Western Australian company ICON Engineering has strengthened its executive team with the appointment of Russell Collins as Business Development Manager.

Mr Collins brings more than 18 years experience in the offshore oil and gas sector to the West Perth-based company which provides innovative equipment and support to drilling and offshore construction operations.

As a Senior Pipeline Engineer, Mr Collins worked on a range of projects for the industry's largest names throughout the Australasian region before co-founding his own engineering consultancy business, Subsea Developments, in 1999.

Over an eight-year period the business peaked to a staff of 40 and annual turnover in excess of $10 million before being sold in 2007.

In 2009 Mr Collins was named one of Western Australia's young business leaders at the annual "40 under 40" Awards which recognise achievement and potential within the business community.

Mr Collins said he was impressed with ICON Engineering's strong reputation within the industry and excited to be part of its future growth plans.

Managing Director David Field said Mr Collins not only brought a wealth of experience and strong business acumen to ICON, but also an innovative 'can-do' approach which was a key aspect of the company’s culture and ongoing success.

Prior to joining ICON Mr Collins was a Senior Executive at publicly-listed company Neptune Marine Services.
