ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, 6 May, 2011 – SolveIT Software Pty Ltd, a leading provider of enterprise software for supply & demand optimisation and predictive modelling, announced today that it has signed a contract with ElectraNet, the owner and manager of South Australia’s electricity transmission system, for the deployment of SolveIT Software’s Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) system configured for power outage management.

Outage planning and management is a key business process for ElectraNet, as equipment outages are required to enable maintenance, refurbishment, and capital works to be undertaken. ElectraNet strives to manage the many variables in this process, to ensure that outages occur as efficiently and effectively as possible, and are coordinated with external parties.

SolveIT Software’s APS system will be used by ElectraNet to improve the proactive planning of outages and provide a structured mechanism to consider the many variables that impact the overall performance of the transmission network. The system will provide ElectraNet with an easy-to-use interface to complex scheduling functions, including drag-and-drop assignments on a planning board and workflow management for approval and changes.

“ElectraNet is looking to capture a number of benefits through the deployment of SolveIT Software’s APS system. These include increased visibility of plans, improved information for stakeholders, better management of booking and confirmation workflow, and a platform which will allow scenario modelling to improve efficiency of plans in the future,” said Phil Court-Kowalski, Executive Manager Network Services.

SolveIT Software’s APS system will provide ElectraNet with visibility of the key information required to make outage planning decisions. The system will help avoid information overload by giving visibility to what is relevant, for example by allowing filtering on the planning board to manage bookings for a single site, or for a particular region, or for equipment items of a particular group. Additional functionality includes a what-if module that can be used to analyse the impact of changes on business rules, constraints, and assets.

ElectraNet is a regulated Transmission Network Service Provider in the National Electricity Market. The ElectraNet transmission system provides the high voltage, large capacity network which enables generators to transport their electricity to large industry and to distribution network owners who in turn transport to smaller industry and domestic customers. The system moves approximately 50GWh of energy daily with a recent record for peak demand of over 3400MW. For more information, please visit www.electranet.com.au
