Wednesday, April 27th, 2011 - Connecting Up Australia (CUA)
Australia's most important technology conference dedicated to keeping the nonprofit sector up to speed with the rapid pace of our society takes place on 1-3 June at the Crown Conference Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

Organiser CEO Doug Jacquier says that in the new media world, nonprofits and charities have more opportunities than ever before to take advantage of technology to cut costs and promote to their stakeholders.

"The 7th Connecting Up conference is all about providing organisations and individuals with practical advice, useful tools, and amazing networking opportunities to connect with the best resources," Mr Jacquier says.

Some of the topics that will be covered during the two-day conference at Connecting Up 2011 include: CRM systems, social media, cloud computing, online fundraising, content strategy, website development, and ICT planning, among others. Holly Ross (Executive Director, Nonprofit Technology Network, USA) and Allen 'Gunner' Gunn (CEO, AspirationTech, USA) are the two main keynote speakers for this special event. They will also be holding an optional day-long workshop on June 3 about technology leadership for sustainability.

Other notable presenters include: Darren Rowse (Problogger, web celebrity), Ravi Shetty (Google Australia), Clair Deevy (Microsoft Community Affairs, Asia Pacific), Mike Yeaton (TechSoup Global), Shai Coggins (CUA, content and social media expert), and Mia Garlick and Reid Elliot (Department of Broadband, Communications, and Digital Economy).

"We are really looking forward to bringing another Connecting Up conference to the nonprofit sector this year," says Mr Jacquier. "Taking in to consideration the feedback that we've gathered from previous Connecting Up conferences, we're bringing in some new exciting elements to CU11, as well as offering some of the great things that previous delegates have enjoyed."

As part of the conference, delegates will be enjoying a number of perks including a raffle entry to win an iPad 2 (for those who register on or before 4 May), discount offers with partners, a cocktail event at the end of Day 1, and special giveaways. Also, existing members of the technology donations and discounts program (DonorTec) will get a discounted conference rate.

A former Connecting Up conference delegate claims: "I came here totally out of my depth and now I have some good basic steps to take us forward. And I’ve made some great contacts to help us."
