The fundraiser “Behind The Wire” (at Subiaco Community Centre on April 23rd) marks the beginning of the 2011 theatrical season for new voice in West Australian Arts, Ellandar Productions.
Fresh off their sell-out season of theatrical debut “A Night Of Deceit” in December of last year, a show supported by W.A critics, business partners Elliott Cook and Iskandar Sharazuddin have set their sights on a full theatrical season in 2011 featuring more contemporary fringe works and their foray into independent film.
In “Behind The Wire” audiences will be treated to “…our perspective on contemporary performance” states Artistic Director, Iskandar R. Sharazuddin. The evening will feature originally conceived monologues, a fresh look at American musical theatre through the work of some largely unknown composers, original solo choreography, circus and the screening of independent film “The Life Of Cardboard” the first in a series from Ellandar Productions.
Directed by Iskandar R. Sharazuddin and Garreth Edward Bradshaw both long time members of the West Australian Youth Theatre Company the night employs some unique theatrical techniques which knit together this slew of performances into a coherent evening of exploration through audio-visual artistic mediums.
Among the performers is, Fern Nicholson, the principal lecturer of screen acting at the Film & Television Institute of W.A and a graduate of the world renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) in London performing with W.A local Nina Deasley, fresh of her success with the W.A feature film “Little Sparrows” which made its world premiere at the Sydney International Film Festival.
Ellandar Productions, is proud to support their peers in the local arts industry and contribute new works to the fringe community of Western Australia. Performances executed by graduates of some of the most recognized academies in the world as well as some of the best freelance performers, Ellandar Productions unites the raw and the refined in a celebration of theatre and film.
