Dates: April 1 – May 2
Where: Ivy Hill Gallery, Wapengo

Two artists will be exhibiting at Ivy Hill Gallery over the coming month – Cheryl Davison and Shunyam Smith. Far South Coast indigenous artist, Cheryl Davison, paints a visual record of the stories told to her by the tribal elders of her family, the Walbunga people of Moruya and the Ngarigo people of the Monaro. With attention to fine detail, she mixes techniques to produce exceptional art works in acrylic and gouache.

Tapestry as a medium has traditionally been used to tell complex stories, full of illusion and metaphor. Shunyam Smith finds different layers of meanings and memories entwined with the physicality of the material and the slow nature of the weaving. Her work is an exploration of the essence of place, the environment and particularly the nature of change.
