Wednesday, March 16th, 2011 - Pactel International

In December 2010, Pactel International has assisted the biggest marine training school in Asia-Pacific, MTC (Marine Training Centre) Kiribati in developing their online courses and interactive learning sessions. A satellite link was provided to campus in Kiribati due to a growing demand for these services.

Because of its remote geographical location, Republic of Kiribati’s economy is extremely reliant on quality maritime personnel to import and export goods and services, which encourages international trade between Kiribati and the rest of the world. It is therefore crucial for the Marine Training Centre in Kiribati to continue supplying world-class training by having access to efficient and reliable communications infrastructure. Andrew Taylor, CEO of Pactel International said: “We are pleased to provide this infrastructure to the Marine Training College, which in return, enables them to supply efficient training services the whole economy can depend on.

The link itself is provided via the NSS-9 satellite to provide high-speed internet connectivity to the training campus in Kiribati. Boro Lucic, Captain Superintendent of the Marine Training Centre, Kiribati has expressed his satisfaction with Pactel’s services: “We value Pactel International’s input in assisting us to supply high quality education services to our students. We also look forward to expanding our communications infrastructure further with Pactel International in the near future”.
