According to latest research, organisations are no longer considering whether moving to the Cloud is right for their organisation, they are considering what type of Cloud is most suitable – public or private?

“A public Cloud is one where a system resides in a data centre that is open to the public to subscribe to,” explained Kareem Tawansi, CEO of software development provider, Solentive Software.

“Private Cloud on the other hand, often referred to as ‘Managed Services’ is when a system is located in a data centre that is only available to specific users. These users are filtered by their user ID’s, IP addresses or both, or made available through a Virtual Private Network (VPN),” continued Kareem.

“When deciding which Cloud service to use, the user-base the system is provided for is an important consideration. If your customers are external to your organisation such as consumers, then a public Cloud is more suitable, on the other hand if your customers are business users then a private Cloud is more likely the correct option,” concluded Kareem.
