Continuing its commitment to delivering the best in ergonomic seating, Bad Backs (www.badbacks.com.au) has released the new German-designed seat, the Muvman.

This clever seat, designed by Aeris, makers of the Swopper, offers desk-bound people a solution to back and posture problems associated with being seated for long periods, by allowing users to stand and sit at the same time. Through varying one’s position constantly, users can avoid some of the postural problems caused by being desk-bound, as well as improving core strength.

The innovative design of the the Muvman was recognised by the German Design Council. It picked up the 2011 Award for Interior Innovation, deemed one of the highest accolades for the interior design and furnishing industry, worldwide, and has attracting the attention of interior designers, occupational health and safety experts throughout Europe.

The Muvman enables you to assume your optimal posture at different heights in any sitting position. The seat tilts forward allowing you to always sit at the optimal distance from your work surface - regardless of your height or physique.

The flexible column of the Muvman moves in all directions and reacts to your body weight simply and easily as you change position. The special Flexzone seat is designed to reduce pressure on your thighs when you bring your weight forward.

“Increasing numbers of our customers are seeking solutions to back pain and posture problems caused through sitting at their desks for long hours,” says Felicity Wood, Managing Director of Bad Backs.

We know now that the human body was not designed to be sedentary. Modern ergonomic seating products such as the Muvman, are designed around the active ‘sit stand’ concept and offer a way to keep the body moving while desk-bound, thus minimising stiffness and poor posture,” explains Felicity.

With more than 80% of Australians suffering chronic back pain, Bad Backs is committed to providing information and resources to help ensure sufferers receive high-quality, information (traditional and holistic) enabling them to make informed decisions.

Since its inception in 2001, Bad Backs has gone from strength to strength, with growth around 40% per annum. Following years of business growth and success, in an online environment, the decision to open a ‘bricks and mortar’ outlet was driven largely by customers seeking opportunities to ‘try before they buy’. Bad Backs currently has retail stores in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, with further outlets planned for other states.

Bad Backs is a source of high-quality, value-for-money products (500+), spanning ergonomic chairs, to lumbar support and massagers, with the selection largely driven by customer demand and feedback. Our products have also been selected in consultation by a team of health professionals (traditional and holistic), who also provide a comprehensive range of content related to chronic back pain management.

Online visitors return to the site to access the latest innovations and developments in spinal care research, which is sourced from leading international research institutes, hospitals, Government health resources and increasingly from Government-approved alternative therapy sources.

In addition to the latest research and information, Bad Backs has built a community of chronic back pain sufferers with a popular discussion forum related to pain management, providing users with the opportunity to share their personal experiences.

Following its resounding Australian success, the business extended its operations abroad, with the December 2006 launch of www.badbackstore.com in the USA.
