An incredible show of community support has enabled the real estate teams at LJ Hooker Goodna and LJ Hooker Ipswich get back to business within days of being completely inundated by flood waters, says Principal Michael Rossiter.

“Even the mighty force of the water was no match to the work force of friends, customers and total strangers who turned out for the Saturday clean-up and helped my staff.

“Our LJ Hooker colleagues from other offices and from Queensland’s corporate operations worked with us and the community members to get both my Goodna and Ipswich real estate offices on the path to some kind of normality,” Mr Rossiter said.

Five days after flood waters closed business, technology routed through Mr Rossiter's LJ Hooker Brisbane Central office meant it was business as usual for all sales and rental enquiry.

The Ipswich office was expected to be fully staffed in its premises in just over a week from its inundation.

The Goodna team, while operating remotely mainly from homes in the interim, is expected to come together in temporary local premises in as little as two weeks from the time clean-up began.

“I cannot say enough about the support and goodwill we experienced both these communities. These people not only helped remove the physical signs of devastation, they lifted our spirits and provided immeasurable emotional support.

“Many of these same people were facing their own hardships but still they came to our aid.”

LJ Hooker’s CEO, L. Janusz Hooker, flew to Brisbane and visited the Goodna and Ipswich real estate offices a week after the devastation.

“LJ Hooker Ltd launched a business relief fund to help our flood-affected real estate teams. We have also chosen to support the Red Cross Relief and Recovery program and donations for affected people in our communities can be lodged through ljhooker.com.au.

A web link to a site with information about temporary accommodation for flood affected families and individuals will soon go live on ljhooker.com.au.

“As I meet with people affected by the floods, I am amazed by their strength and resilience, and their gratitude for the outpouring of support from around Australia.

“The recovery will take a while, but LJ Hooker is committed to helping these Aussie communities get back on their feet. It’s in times like these that Australians are at their best,” Mr Hooker said.

Mr Rossiter, whose own home did not escape significant damage, says he will never forget the way the Goodna and Ipswich communities rallied.

“It is hard to find enough words to express my gratitude, and my thoughts are with everyone now trying to rebuild homes and lives.”

Phone numbers and email addresses are all up and running as per usual. LJ Hooker Goodna can be contacted on 07 3818 8955 or email to [email protected] LJ Hooker Ipswich can be contacted on 07 3281 7444 or email to [email protected]

Mr Rossiter has eight Queensland LJ Hooker offices including Goodna, Ipswich and Brisbane Central. The others are Mackay, Mackay Beaches, Mackay Commercial, Moranbah and Cooloola.

None of those real estate markets have been completely untouched by the recent events.

He estimates tens of thousands of property owners and thousands of tenants have been affected throughout areas where his offices are located.

“Support from all quarters means we can continue providing our real estate services to these people when they need it,” said Mr Rossiter.
