Friday, January 21st, 2011 - LJ Hooker
LJ Hooker Ltd established network-wide initiatives in response to the devastating floods first hitting Queensland and now other states.

“We have launched a business relief fund to help our flood-affected real estate teams. We have also chosen to support the Red Cross to drive donations for the massive numbers of community members affected and the public can donate to the Red Cross Recovery and Relief program through ljhooker.com.au,” said LJ Hooker’s CEO, L. Janusz Hooker.

“Your support assists the Red Cross to be active as soon as a situation has occurred and to provide desperately needed help. Whenever you see a Red Cross Emergency Service team in action your donation has been an important contribution to that team.”

The real estate network’s Queensland Auction Chapter made one of the first contributions to the internal appeal with a $5000 donation.

Mr Hooker visited some of the hardest hit LJ Hooker offices this week including Toowoomba, Gatton, Ipswich and Goodna before heading further north.

Andrea Asher and Wendy Naylor from LJ Hooker Gladstone watched their plan to help flood victims in surrounding regions escalate after posting a single page online, Gladstone Donations for Flood Victims.

Local trucking companies, national companies and many South East Queensland LJ Hooker offices quickly came to the party and containers filled with donations travelled into the flood ravished areas throughout Queensland.

In Toowoomba, the LJ Hooker team set up a respite facility centre at a local shopping centre, and in Gatton, the real estate team managed the local communications centre.

A golf day fundraiser organised by LJ Hooker Burleigh and a bowls day by LJ Hooker Evans Head in Northern New South Wales are just two example of other support.

A web link to a site with information about temporary accommodation for flood affected families and individuals will soon go live on ljhooker.com.au.

“As I meet with people affected by the floods, I am amazed by their strength and resilience, and their gratitude for the outpouring of support from around Australia.

“The recovery will take a while, but LJ Hooker is committed to helping these Aussie communities get back on their feet. It’s in times like these that Australians are at their best,” Mr Hooker said.
