Thursday, January 20th, 2011 - Flying High Bird Sanctuary supporting Flood Victims this Australia Day
This Australia Day Flying High Bird Sanctuary at Apple Tree Creek is offering a special discount to the residents of its local community. The area surrounding Flying High Bird Sanctuary has been hard hit by the recent floods and the team from Flying High would like to show their support by offering a discount to locals into the Sanctuary. Anne Tocknell from Flying High Bird Sanctuary says anyone who brings along photo ID with a postcode of between 4650 through to 4671 or a postcode of 4621 can gain entry into the Sanctuary for $10. That is anyone living between Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Bundaberg and Gin Gin as well as residents from the Biggenden area can receive entry into the Sanctuary for only $10 this Australia Day. Flying High Bird Sanctuary will also donate 50 cents per admission to charties supporting those effected by the floods.

There will be a free sausage sizzle between the hours of 10am and 12 noon as well as free sample bags with each entry. Flying High Bird Sanctuary serves the best eco friendly coffee in the area and all visitors can purchase a cup for only $2.50 during Australia Day. Anne adds there is nothing more relaxing than sitting on the veranda of the Sanctuary with a cup of coffee listening to the 87 plus species of parrots and finches singing and flying free.

Flying High Bird Sanctuary is open 7 days (excluding Christmas Day) from 8am with the last entry at 4pm. Flying High Bird Sanctuary is located on the corner of Old Creek Road and the Bruce Highway, Apple Tree Creek.

Flying High Bird Sanctuary supporting Flood Victims this Australia Day

The owners of Flying High Bird Sanctuary, Matt and Leisa Tocknell as well as Matt's parents David and Anne could not leave their bird sanctuary to physically assist  the many people affected by the flood. The Sanctuary suffered a small amount of damage caused by the flooding and feels lucky that there was no irrepairable damage. Offering a percentage of their takings on Australia as well as offering a discount to the local community is the Flying High way of showing their support and offering comfort to those deeply effected by the floods.
