Wednesday, January 12th, 2011 - Kick It to Me
On Saturday 22 January 2011 the South Australian town of Willunga will experience the highlight of the 2011 Santos Tour Under Jayco Stage 5, with the Skoda King of the Mountain taking place at Willunga Hill. Kick It To Me Events has been promoting an exclusive cocktail function taking place at local restaurant and function centre “Our Place”; perfectly positioned for guests to view the cyclists tackle the steep Willunga Hill and then take the corner from Meadows Road into Range Road.

Sue McKay, Managing Director of Kick It To Me, said the people of Adelaide have come to the party and shown great interest in this year’s Tour Down Under event and local functions such as this.

"The Santos Tour Down Under showcases Adelaide’s unique landscape and stunning scenery to millions across the world as they watch the best international riders gather to race in our city,” Sue said.

“The people of Adelaide have the luxury of being able to experience the excitement in person, and with functions like these at such reasonable prices, it’s no wonder they are eager to experience the best of the region’s food and wine.”

“Hosts of the exclusive cocktail function are local Willunga restaurateurs Andy and Anna Clappis who are passionate about spreading the secret of Willunga’s quality food and wine. This is definitely the place to be on Saturday 22 January!”

Gourmet finger foods and regional wines from Leconfield and Fox Creek will be served over the course of four hours. Live action of the race will feature on a large screen and the Skoda King of the Mountain will be determined as the riders stream by at Willunga Hill.

The function is being attended by Rabobank staff who will be hosting clients and friends as they keenly watch the Rabobank Dutch based cycling team taking part in the Tour Down Under for the fourth year in a row.

Australian Olympic Gold medallist Graeme Brown is joined at the Rabobank team by current Under 23 World Champion Michael Mathews for his debut pro tour event. The rest of the Rabobank team are Dutch, including current Dutch National Time trial winner Jos Van Emden, Tour de France stage winner Pieter Weening, and Tour de Romaldie mountains classification winner Laurens Ten Dam.

Rabobank is one of the longest participants in the pro tour ranks, having competed since 1996 and has always been in the first division collecting more than 500 wins. Local Identity Patrick Jonker and Robbie McEwin are both previous riders with the Rabobank team.
Rabobank is the world’s leading specialist food and agribusiness bank with a network of 53 branches throughout Australia.

Tickets for the gourmet cocktail function are now sold out. For information on similar events visit www.kickittome.com.au or phone Kick It To Me Events on 1300 00 KICK.
