“We’ve found that our results trended toward electronics, such as laptops and cameras” said Neil Thomas, National Sales Director. “There are no surprises that in the lead up to Christmas, we see an increase in performance of these product categories, but there are a few standouts from our findings.”

“If husbands, boyfriends, or brothers are looking for what to get their special someone in their lives this Christmas then they’d be pretty safe with a Smartphone, like the HTC Legend or a Netbook, such as the ASUS Eee PC” he said. “Traditional categories, like fragrances and health and beauty were also highlights, with the top product being Pure Indulgence by Christian Dior as well as the Dermalogica skin care range.”

Thomas said popular products and brands in the market have had an effect on the results, with clear spikes in brand names, such as Ray Ban, Apple and Wii. “These are well known brands, and a lot of women out there are looking for products, such as the Wii Fit plus and iPod docking stations”.

“Understanding what women are searching for online, and giving them the products that they want to compare is a crucial part of the service that Shopbot offers”.

“With retail spend increasing we’ve seen a continuous growth of consumers comparing products and prices in the lead up to Christmas.”
