NEC Australia today announced the first live AutumnCare customer hosted on NEC’s aged care industry endorsed cloud platform.

Mary Ogilvy Homes, an 80 bed, high and low care facility located in New Town, Tasmania, is now using AutumnCare’s clinical management software solution Harmony via NEC’s cloud platform.

AutumnCare’s Managing Director, Stuart Hope said: “Hosting AutumnCare’s Harmony solution on NEC’s cloud platform provides customers with the same secure environment we have always had plus a number of add-on benefits.”

“AutumnCare customers will still receive our advanced clinical care solution that ensures continuity of service even in the face of catastrophic failures in networks and servers. The NEC cloud platform allows our customers to access hosted email, intranet, contact centre, collaboration and contract management applications to further improve productivity and reduce costs,” Mr Hope said.

Mary Ogilvy Homes uses AutumnCare’s Harmony software to manage its clinical operations; on the NEC Cloud platform, the aged care facility has the strong potential to deliver other productivity gains in the future such as business grade broadband, hosted telephony products and complementary cloud based applications.

An advantage of NEC’s dedicated environment is that users can login via a single entry point to access all the hosted applications an organisation uses, creating a more efficient and productive work environment as users login only once. NEC handles the authentication for each individual permission.

Mr Hope said AutumnCare had decided to partner with NEC as it recognised the value to customers, the technical advantages of elasticity and scalability of hosting its Harmony solution on the NEC cloud platform and NEC’s great reputation.

The NEC Aged Care Cloud solution is hosted, maintained and supported in NEC’s Australian secure data centres with redundancy, back-up and disaster recovery services.

In July this year NEC announced an exclusive ICT partnership with Australia’s two aged care peak bodies – Aged Care Association Australia (ACAA) and Aged & Community Services Australia (ACSA) – to advance the use of Cloud computing in the Aged Care Industry.

David Cooke, NEC’s Head of Health & Aged Care Solutions said NEC was helping to bring more effective ICT solutions to aged care facilities through its industry endorsed cloud platform.

“NEC’s cloud platform delivers an opex based approach which is more consistent with the funding model within Aged Care facilities.”
