Australian Model Railway Exhibition
Saturday 4th – Monday 6th June 9.30am – 4.30pm
The 2016 Model Railway Exhibition (Presented by the Australian Model Railway Association – WA Branch) will be running on the June long weekend from Saturday 4th – Monday 6th June doors open at 9:30am – 4:30pm / (Closes 4pm Monday). Held at the Claremont Showgrounds, Exhibition Centre. It is a fantastic model rail event with everything from; Historic displays, Model Steam & Electric trains, Kids Ride-Ons and the LEGO exhibit will be there too. Saturday 4th – Sunday 5th June
Murray’s largest community event, the Pinjarra Festival is set for Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June, 2016.
This year’s event sponsored by Tourism WA, Lotterywest, Alcoa Australia, Bendigo Bank and Austin Lakes Estate will see the tranquil Edenvale Homestead in Pinjarra transformed into a hive of activity over the Western Australia Day long weekend.
The Pinjarra Festival showcases the vibrant and culturally rich elements of the Shire of Murray. It further celebrates Murray’s distinctive rural history and lifestyle, parading local arts, crafts, produce and recreational activities significant to the region.
The festival will boast an entertainment line-up of headlining acts that will entice all ages!
Other festival highlights include market stalls, amusement rides and free children’s activities.

And for those of you who are not sure why we are getting another glorious long weekend… Well, Western Australia Day commemorates the founding of the Swan River Colony in 1829, and thanks to that we get a day off!
Back to Country – Celebrating Hamilton Hill’s History
Sunday 5th June
Join us to celebrate Hamilton Hill's heritage and history with this FREE family event at the Randwick Stables.
There will be pony rides, wagon rides, petting farm, raptors, facepainting and old-fashioned races such as sack race, three-legged race and egg and spoon race.
You can watch milking demonstrations, vintage tractors and farm machinery, ploughing demonstrations, harness club horses and buggies.
You can participate in workshops such as nest making, basket weaving, composting and worm farms, and creating water wise gardens.
You can join in a cultural guided walk and tree planting session in Clontaff hill.
You can chill out near the stage and listen to amazing live music from local bands such as Junkadelic, Peter Bibby, John Reed and the Hill Tones, Ceri McPhillips and Helen Townsend.
There will be food; there will be coffee.
Walk in the Park: Wild for Life at Whiteman Park
Sunday 5th June 11am – 1pm
We’re celebrating World Environment Day on Sunday 5 June with a free guided walk in Woodland Reserve. Discover the project’s background, why we’re protecting our native wildlife and what you can do at home to help.
World Environment Day is the United Nations declared day for encouraging the worldwide awareness and protection of our natural environment. This year’s WED theme is ‘Go Wild for Life’, to encourage people to celebrate the many species under threat and take action to help safeguard them into the future.
Free guided walks depart from the Visitor Information Centre at 11.00am and 1.00pm.
WA Day Festival at Elizabeth Quay
Monday 6th June 10am to 9pm
This WA Day, Elizabeth Quay will come to life with a huge new WA Day Festival, celebrating the best of Western Australian culture.
On Monday 6 June from 10am to 9pm, Elizabeth Quay will be jam packed with free activities for the whole family. Visitors are invited to spend the day exploring Western Australian music, food, sports, arts and culture. www.celebratewa.com.au
WA Day Festival, Mandurah
Monday 6th June 4pm – 8pm
Join us this Monday 6 June from 4pm to 8pm on Tuckey Street, Mandurah and enjoy a festival of Western Australian music, food, sports, arts and culture.
Celebrating WA through cultural diversity - a community celebration embracing the different cultures from within the Peel region through food, music and entertainment, who have made the Peel region their home.
The theme will based around 'Fire', with stories around the Campfire by a local Indigenous Elder Harry Nannup. Fire twirlers, Chinese lantern parade and spit roasts.
Food from different cultures will be available, where people can purchase a tasting card and go around and 'have a taster' from the a number of different food vans.
WA Day Festival, Fremantle
Monday 6th June 10am – 4pm
Join us this Monday 6 June from 10am to 4pm at the Esplanade Park and enjoy a festival of Western Australian music, food, sports, arts and culture.
WA Day City of Canning
Monday 6th June 11am – 3pm
A family oriented picnic day that celebrates all things Western Australian and living in Canning. Take part in our community art project, wander through a range of stalls or enjoy local entertainment and performances. There’s something for everyone!
Free Entry to The Bell Tower
Monday 6th June 10am – 3.30pm
To celebrate Western Australia Day, the Bell Tower will host an Open Day. There is lots to do for all the family, fascinating exhibitions and activity sheets for our ‘little’ visitors and another more interactive sheet for the older kids, both are FREE. You can have a photograph taken with the oldest bell in Australia (450years), find out about the amazing links to the great British Admiral Lord Nelson, see the vast animal bell collection, try your hand at chiming one of the 12-bells from St Martin-in-the Fields and take home a chiming certificate, or record a FREE video postcard to share with their family and friends. Entry is FREE all day.
The Lake Gwelup Fun Run
Monday 6th June 9am
The Lake Gwelup Fun Run is a fun family day with a 3km or 6km Fun Run and Fete, being held on the Western Australia Day (public holiday).
Enjoy the excitement and variety of rides and activities all morning long including Train Rides, Animal Farm, Martial Arts demonstration, food, stalls, games, live music and more!
The official race warm up begins at 9.45am with the 6km run starting at 9.40am. The family and 3km race starts at 10am. Food and entertainment available from 9am.
